Holiday Decor: Things I Just Do

Simple Holiday Decorating Ideas

Decorating for the Holidays is one of my favorite things, and coming up with new ways to “Deck the Halls” is always a  thrill for me. Simple ideas are usually the best and most doable. As you prep for days of entertaining to come, try these simple ideas and your guests will be impressed and your home will look amazing.

1. Hang a wreath ON your mirror:

I guess we like to look at ourselves a lot in the mirror at our house, so we have quite a few large antique mirrors. They are great for making a space feel bigger, and always help the light in any room feel so warm and inviting. But, at the holidays I like to switch it up and hang decorations from them. Not around them, but smack dab in the middle. You can use either those handy dandy sticky removable “don’t wreck the walls, deck the halls” hooks from 3M, some pretty ribbon or fishing line. Whatever you have on hand will do. So pretty.

2. Fill a hurricane lamp or large vase with old ornaments:

Instead of leaving old ornaments in the box once the tree is full, get them out and gently toss them into an empty vase or hurricane lamp. Simple colorful and pretty.

3. Make a wreath out of wine corks.

So fun, and always a show stopper. Either save the corks from what you drink (wow that’s a lot-o-wine), or head to your local craft store. Bags of 100 corks are readily available and pretty cheap. This wreath took over 300 corks to make, but I got there with the help of my friends, family and neighborhood. All I did was ask around and soon I had over 400 corks in hand.

What’s your favorite Holiday decorating idea? Please share. I would love to mix it up next Christmas. Merry Merry!
