Pretty Awesome Weekends: Low Calorie Super Bowl Snacks
Keeping an Eye on the Calorie Count and the Super Bowl Score At the Same Time
There are certain times of the year where the calories are worth it to me — Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day (chocolate anyone), etc. — but Super Bowl is not one of them. Don’t get me wrong … I love the dips, the wings and the chips. They taste wonderful. However, one night, one meal could take away all the hard weight-loss work I put in all week. So, in this edition of Pretty Awesome Weekends, I’m sharing some great recipes I’ve found to help you keep an eye on the calories come this Sunday.
Hungry Girl’s Clubhouse Chicken Quesadilla – Yummmm ….. ranch, bacon, chicken and cheese. What’s not to love!
Weight Watcher’s Beef and Cheese Wonton’s – So have to try this. So simple too … half store-bought, half homemade.
Food & Style’s Cumin Crusted Oven Fries – These look to be as tasty as they are beautiful. (Tip – buy cumin seeds in the “ethnic” aisle of the grocery store, much cheaper).
My New Roots’ Roasted Sesame Slaw – I love slaw made in new ways. This looks so fresh and is a great balance to some of the heavier game day foods.
Smitten Kitchen’s Buttermilk Roasted Chicken – A great alternative to fried chicken with tons of flavor.
Whole Living’s Sloppy Joe Sliders – Who doesn’t love a sloppy joe?
Whole Living’s Ginger Shrimp with Charred Tomato Salsa – Something for the food lovers who join you on Game Day.
My Fajita-Spiced Chicken Tacos – One of my recipes, just love to make this and really quick.
Simply Recipes’ Chicken Skewers with Roasted Red Pepper Dip – The lovely Kristen of dineanddish.net shares this super simple recipe that is a great lighter version of heavy, fried chicken dishes.
Have a great weekend and a fun game day! I’ll be watching (mostly for the ads) ;-).
