Will Someone Finance My Dream?

Dream a Little Dream – But Who Will Pay For It?

Do you have a dream? A dream that whispers?  Sometimes screams at you? You are distracted by it.  But then you refocus on the task at hand – the job that pays the bills.  Until the whispers start again.  That distraction of what could be.

How do we do it?  Maintain focus on the task at hand, rather than fantasize? Get lost in the distraction of the what ifs.  How about this – find balance.  Honor that which you do.  And, honor –even more so– that which you want to do.

The fact is that the dream is there for a reason. And sometimes the whisper does scream.  You need to listen to it.  Use it as your reminder to keep going.  There’s a reason you’re hearing it.  Honor it.

Some ‘dream starters’ ideas:

Dream Dollars – Put a few dollars away here and there.  Have a dream account.  And, then take a day off – and do things related to that dream.

Dream Job For a Day – Once you’ve dedicated a day, spend that day as if that dream is real.  For example, if your dream is to write a cookbook, then commit to writing a few recipes.  And, taking pictures as they would appear in your book. Want to be a travel writer?  Visit a local museum/attraction, write about your experience, and submit to your local publication. Send it.

Dreamer Classmates – Identify those who are living their dreams.  From celebrities to friends and family.  Rich, famous, the person next door.  Maybe a local restauranteur.  If you’ve always wanted to own a restaurant, meet the owner.  Live a day in their life.

Many more ideas, I’m sure, are out there.  The point is this. You can start your dream now. Your current job is your financier.  You just have to take the time to do it. This will also make you appreciate your current job as it now becomes the means to get you to your dreams.

This is indeed the meaning of Working to Live.
